The Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) is an annual cinema event directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Hanoi People's Committee, hosted by Vietnam Cinema Department in partnership with Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and various organisations.
The 7th HANIFF is set to launch on November 7 under the theme “Cinema - Soaring Creativity,” featuring film screenings, a project market connecting Asia-Pacific filmmakers, seminars, and exhibitions running through November 11 across multiple venues.
Approximately 100 films will be screened during HANIFF, featuring both Vietnamese and international productions from countries such as the United States, South Korea, China, and Japan. These films will span a wide range of genres and durations, from animated films to dramas, and from short films to feature-length productions. Public screenings are planned for the Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian area, as well as at venues like the National Cinema Center, BHD Star Cineplex, and CGV Mipec Tower in Hanoi.

Alongside screenings, HANIFF organised a film project market alongside screenings to support Asia-Pacific producers, directors, and screenwriters in presenting their projects to investors and cinema experts.
Through workshops and networking events, the market provides a platform for showcasing projects, professional development, and establishing connections with producers, distributors, festivals, and investors. According to the organisers, four outstanding projects from Asia-Pacific countries and four from Vietnam will be selected for awards at the Film Project Market.
Beyond connecting filmmakers and investors through the project market, contemporary cinema issues will be explored in two HANIFF seminars.
The “German Cinema Focus” seminar, scheduled for November 8, will create a forum for sharing German filmmaking experiences, discussing approaches to human, social and humanitarian themes, analysing multilayered storytelling, and contemporary German cinema trends.
On November 9, a seminar on “Developing Film Production: Historical Themes and Literary Adaptations” will address challenges in adapting literature to cinema, innovative approaches to historical subjects, and international solutions for elevating and developing film genres.
Additionally, from November 7-11 at the Daewoo Hotel (Hanoi), film enthusiasts and filmmakers can visit the exhibition “Vietnam's UNESCO-recognised Heritage Through Cinema.” The exhibition presents about 200 film stills from domestic and international filmmakers capturing Vietnam's UNESCO-recognised heritage sites.
