Van Phong Economic Zone covers 150,000 hectares, of which about 80,000 are water surface, and 70,000 are mainland and islands including the two districts of Van Ninh and Ninh Hoa.
The planning aims to develop the region into a dynamic economic centre with new industries, a smart city and international links.
The zone will cover multiple sectors and play a leading role in investment attraction, driving economic development in neighbouring regions. With the maritime economy as its foundation, there will be an international container transhipment port, logistics services, and tourism attractions.
Established in 2006, the population in Van Phong is currently around 240,000 people and is expected to reach as many as 380,000 by 2030.
With its favourable geographical location, the area has attracted roughly 150 projects so far with the total registered capital of around $4 billion.
