At the final, Thai Nguyen won scoring 280 marks whereas Nam Dinh team was in the second place with 260 marks and the team from the host province ranked third with 170 marks.

Ending ‘Olympia for secondary school students’ northern region finale, a Nghe An Province Department of Education and Training representative said: “The Nghe An team incurred no pressure when joining the quiz-show. We often reminded the students this is a playground and you come here primarily to communicate and learn from each other, so we are happy whatever the results will be, since the quiz-show outcomes are impartial.”

With the success, Thai Nguyen was the first team to join the national finale for ‘Olympia for secondary school’ slated to take place in Danang in April 2013. The quiz-show will continue to find two remaining best teams from central and southern regions.

‘Olympia for secondary schools’ programme is hosted in cooperation between Ministry of Education and Training’s Department of High School Education and LG Electronics Vietnam.

In this first trial run, “Olympia for secondary schools” will take place with the participation of representatives from 18 cities and provinces.

The first contest was launched on October 14, 2012 and will run until April 2013, before the finale of the 2012-2013 academic year.

Through the programme LG Electronics Vietnam will also award 72 scholarships for 18 secondary schools which represent 18 participated provinces. These scholarships are especially for poor families’ students who excel and have rich promise.
