Honours bestowed on the company have illustrated its efforts across all aspects of its business

A solid financial foundation has been a reliable factor that SABECO has consistently maintained through many business cycles and in 2024. This past year, the brewer focused its business resources on market development activities, including building brand and distribution strategies, consumption in line with consumer trends, restructuring the distribution system, increasing efficiency, and supporting control by channel and product segment.

At the same time, the company is maintaining its place in the domestic market while reaching out to the international market, promoting research and development to improve product quality and launch new product lines, and improving the efficiency of the supply chain throughout the SABECO system.

On top of that, the company has focused on reform to increase investment efficiency, reduce operating costs, and increase productivity; and developed modern trade channels and online sales channels, as well as take-away and on-site consumption following global trends.

At its 2024 AGM, SABECO chairman Koh Poh Tiong said the company is entering a period of rapid growth.

“I am confident with the new revenue and market share targets,” Tiong said.

Despite operating in a challenging business environment, Tiong added that SABECO is expected to enter a period of strong growth thanks to taking advantage of many new fields, as well as restructuring and successfully transforming from a state-owned enterprise to a private enterprise.

SABECO’s growth efforts have been recognised after it was named in the top 100 sustainable development enterprises in Vietnam in 2024 (CSI100) by the Vietnam Council for Sustainable Development. The ranking was announced by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry on November 29.

The company’s continued recognition on the list is deemed praise for its continuous efforts in the journey of sustainable development, leaders said. The result is also a testament to SABECO’s commitment to creating long-term benefits for businesses and partners, while making a contribution to the overall development of the country.

The CSI100 was developed with expert advice from the Central Economic Commission, the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour. In 2024, the CSI100 consisted of a 6-part structure and expanded to 153 indicators, an increase of 23 indicators compared to 2023, with the main changes focusing on the environmental field.

SABECO has picked up other honours, including Customer Experience Initiative of the Year for Vietnam at the FMCG Asia Awards 2024 organised by Retail Asia.

For a stronger Vietnam

Towards the vision of creating long-term sustainable value for businesses and the Vietnamese community, SABECO has implemented environmental, social, and governance initiatives in its production and business operations in recent times.

The company’s efforts focus on three main areas: responding to climate change, enhancing the capacity of employees and communities, and collaborating with stakeholders to create positive impacts, all of which contribute to the socioeconomic progress of Vietnam.

With a commitment to responding to climate change and striving to minimise environmental impacts during the production process, SABECO has installed rooftop solar power at factories in the system, replaced fossil fuel boilers with biomass fuel from natural sources, significantly reduced carbon emissions, and applied sustainable packaging initiatives and wastewater treatment systems, reinforcing environmental responsibility and contributing to the country’s green goals.

The brewer has also constantly improved the capacity of employees and the community, aiming at economic, social, and environmental development through schemes to enhance the competitiveness of young businesses and individuals in rural areas.

The recent inauguration of the company’s research and development centre also plays an important role in nurturing SABECO’s brewing experts, while attracting young personnel to continue training the next generation of talent, bringing positive impacts to the company and Vietnamese brands.

The new centre, at Nguyen Chi Thanh brewery in Ho Chi Minh City, is an important milestone in SABECO’s strategy to increase production capacity and create world-class beer products for consumers, thereby expanding its brand footprint to the international market. Company leaders say the centre is also a testament to its commitment to constantly innovate and apply technology to promote efficiency in production, and increase competitiveness in the market.

The continued in-depth investment to improve SABECO’s efficiency and position is also deemed one of the important preparation steps for SABECO to seize new opportunities. In particular, macroeconomic signals also show many favourable signals, especially in terms of production speed and domestic consumption demand both recovering after difficulties in the 2022-2023 period.

Meanwhile, with a focus on cooperating with all parties to create positive impacts, SABECO is constantly strengthening partnerships to build a balanced and active lifestyle, ensuring compliance with the law and business ethics throughout the system, together creating far-reaching positive impacts from within the company.

In particular, the SABECO Sports Hub took place in 36 provinces and cities across the country in December, and was the result of successful coordination between the company and the Central Youth Union, not only aiming to promote a balanced and active lifestyle, but also opening up a playground for the community to connect through sports activities, cultural and culinary exchanges, and also contribute to local development.
