The province has submitted a document to the prime minister, the Ministry of Transport, and central authorities to propose adding the expressway connecting Phu Yen and the Central Highlands in the road development planning for 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050.
Le Tan Ho, vice chairman of Phu Yen People’s Committee said that the project will create regional linkages, promote goods transportation and socioeconomic development in Phu Yen, Dak Lak, the South Central Coast.
The expressway would be designed to connect with second-tier sea ports, including Vung Ro, Tuy Hoa, and Buon Ma Thuot airport, as well as Dak Rue International Border Gate.
In addition, it would be connected to the national highway, Ho Chi Minh Road, coastal roads, as well as key economic zones, namely Nam Phu Yen, Dak Rue Border Gate Economic Zone, and economic zones in the Central Highlands.
The construction is expected to be implemented in 2026-2030. Accordingly, the construction of the 100km segment from Bai Goc deep water port in Dong Hoa town to Buon Ma Thuot city of Dak Lak is expected to be completed by 2030.
According to Phu Yen People’s Committee, the development plan of the Nam Phu Yen-Bac Khanh Hoa area by 2025, which was approved by the prime minister, will be key to promoting the growth of the South Central Coast. Besides, this area has great potential for marine economic development, is considered the transport gate between the South Central Coast and Central Highlands.
The resolution of the congress of the Party Committee of Phu Yen for 2020-2025 highlights the importance of infrastructure development in general and investment in the expressway to the Central Highlands. The province will focus on building plans for regional integration, effectively developing the potentials and advantages of each region.
