Danish jewellery maker Pandora will break ground on its $150 million factory inthe southern province of Binh Duong on May 16, according to the Danish Embassy in Hanoi.

The jewellery crafting facility in Binh Duong is Pandora's third facility in the world and the first production facility built outside of Thailand. Located in Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park 3 (VSIP 3), the factory will have an annual capacity of 60 million pieces of jewellery and create jobs for more than 6,000 craftspeople.

The factory called Pandora Production Vietnam will be built according to the LEED Gold standard, a leading green building certification, and be powered by 100 per cent renewable energy. As a result, the new facility is expected to contribute to Vietnam's green transformation goals,

In addition, the factory called Pandora Production Vietnam will contribute to Vietnam's green transformation goals as it is operated according to the highest standards of sustainable development across the group's value chain. Notably, the factory is powered by 100 per cent renewable energy.

Jeerasage Puranasamriddhi, chief supply officer of Pandora said, "We scouted countries all over the world before deciding on Vietnam and Binh Duong province. Vietnam has a rich craftmanship history, and we will be able to access a large group of craftspeople."

"Binh Duong and VSIP provide great infrastructure, and we are deeply grateful for the support we have received from the local authorities and VSIP team. Expanding our production capacity is critical to meeting expected demand, and we are ready and excited about our new chapter in Vietnam," Puranasamriddhi said.

Vietnam is now home to 135 Danish companies that have set up legal entities in the country. Denmark is also one of the largest European investors in Vietnam.

Danish toy maker LEGO Group is building a $1.3 billion factory in VSIP 3. The carbon-neutral factory is expected to produce high-quality products in the second half of 2024.

Other Danish groups like Scancom, Vestas, Carlsberg, Julie Sandlau, Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have been investing in Vietnam and generating thousands of jobs.
