Oracle announces Oracle VM Storage Connect Plug-Ins for Oracle VM 3.0

Enabling customers to reduce time and complexity in their virtualisation environments, Oracle announced August 29 Oracle VM Storage Connect plug-ins for Oracle VM 3.0.

Oracle VM Storage Connect is a framework enabling storage vendors to make their advanced storage features a natural part of Oracle VM. Oracle VM Storage Connect allows customers to transparently manage storage and virtualization together through Oracle VM Manager, a component of Oracle VM 3.0 announced recently.

Through Oracle VM Storage Connect, administrators can directly configure and manage the storage attached to their Oracle VM server pools, fully leveraging their investments in advanced storage functionality, such as deduplication and fast clone, and streamline the deployment and management of virtual infrastructure and applications in datacenter and cloud environments.

“Our customers are application-driven. Oracle VM helps get those applications up and running faster by focusing not just on a solution for the virtualisation layer alone but by enabling the delivery of a fully configured, end-to-end application environment to users. Oracle VM Storage Connect extends this strategy of full-stack integration to the storage layer.

“Customers can benefit from simpler, more centralised infrastructure management, accelerated provisioning of their applications, and greater IT agility as they leverage their storage systems from Oracle VM 3.0,” said Wim Coekaerts, senior vice president Linux and Virtualisation Engineering, Oracle.
