In response to the environmental challenges facing the port industry and to achieve global objectives, port operations worldwide are undergoing a "greening" process, seeking a balance between environmental impact and economic development. Vietnam's National Strategy for Green Growth has set a goal of "greening" various economic sectors. In this context, the development of green logistics, encompassing green logistics centres, green ports, and more, is considered a crucial standard.

In light of this trend, Long An International Port is committed to operational excellence and embracing both digital and green transformations. Through the adoption of renewable energy sources, resource conservation measures, process optimisation, and the reduction of waste and emissions, Long An International Port is at the forefront of sustainable port operations.

Its port facilities are equipped with solar panel systems, energy-efficient LED lighting, and cutting-edge technologies such as CATOS and MOST. Its fleet of tractor trucks adheres to stringent Euro 5 emission standards, while its cranes are fully electric. Moreover, the port is actively exploring the implementation of electric or battery-powered equipment, with the ultimate goal of achieving shore power usage by 2030.

Vo Quoc Huy, chairman of the Board of Directors at Long An International Port, stated, "Long An International Port highly appreciates the scale of organisation as well as the ability to gather and influence of VILOG 2024. According to the government's viewpoint, it is vital to mobilise all resources, especially non-budgetary resources, for comprehensive investment, with an emphasis on maritime infrastructure. Seaports, as a critical part of national maritime infrastructure, play a vital role in the socioeconomic infrastructure of local communities.

The development of modern and synchronised maritime infrastructure contributes to ensuring marine safety and security, efficiently connecting various transportation modes, and maximising the advantages of large-volume cargo transportation. This plays a significant role in international freight transport, reducing logistics costs, optimising the nation's resources, and addressing climate change, while also aiming towards greener, more economical, and safer transportation methods.

Ports play a pivotal role in the global economic chain, especially in the logistics and supply chain sectors, serving as international goods exchange points and hubs for transportation and distribution activities. Long An International Port, strategically located at the gateway to the Mekong Delta region, has become a crucial link to enhancing the regional logistics network. From the port, goods from the Mekong Delta region are gathered and distributed to destinations worldwide.
