Diageo Vietnam’s commitment to sustainable and long-term operation

After seven years of operation in Vietnam with notable success, Diageo has the lifelong and genuine commitment to develop in the market.

In addition, Diageo Vietnam has step by step build up successfully an exemplar of a corporate citizen.

Responsibility to consumers

Diageo Vietnam in collaboration with Vietnam Association for Anti-Counterfeiting and Trademark Protection (VATAP) have recently granted certificates for 300 “selected shops” retailing in alcohol products nationwide. This is aimed to offer consumers trustworthy and reliable shopping outlets with reasonable prices and guaranteed quality for consumers.

These shops are committed to importing and distributing legal international alcohol brands and are barred from distributing counterfeited and smuggled products. They have to comply with regulations on display and closely control warehousing to ensure the best quality of products under the prime purpose “For the benefit of consumers.”

This encouraging program is part of a long-term campaign by VATAP and alcohol producers and traders in the fight against counterfeited and smuggled products in Vietnam. Le The Bao, VATAP’s chairman, hoped that the list of selected shops will grow with time to offer reliable and safer choices for consumers. “Besides protecting consumers, I believe that this is an active way to protect brands and the reputation of legal businesses,” said Bao.

Solid commitment to community development

In past years, Diageo Vietnam has deployed many activities to confirm its commitment to continuously contribute to improving the quality of life in Vietnam, especially in localities where it operates.

Most recently, the British-based company organized a ceremony to hand over water filtration systems worth VND335 million to eight primary schools in poor rural areas in the southern-central province of Ninh Thuan. This hand-over helped to bring safe drinking water systems to totally over 28,000 students at 41 schools in rural areas in Ninh Thuan province in the past years.

Earlier, in April, Diageo announced the “Plan W – empowering women through learning”, commiting to pour US$756,000 (nearly VND16 billion) within five years to help Vietnamese women raise their voices and gain higher positions in society, contributing to the greater effort of the Government in implementing the national program of gender equality.

In an interview with VIR, Stephane Gripon, General Manager of Diageo Vietnam, said: “After seven years of operation in Vietnam, we are proud of our reputation as a trusted corporate citizen, our significant contributions to the economy through taxes and employment, and responsible investment in our communities”.

“With a distribution network of more than 300 selected retail stores across the country and more than 100 employees working at the company’s offices, Diageo Vietnam is committed to operating sustainably for the long-term,” said Gripon.
