The award was granted by Business Initiative Directions (B.I.D), a leading private organisation worldwide in spreading quality culture through the Quality Mix Plan and the International B.I.D Award for Quality. In the past 27 years B.I.D has presented its Award for Quality and its TQM model QC100 implemented in 100 countries.
According to B.I.D, Chinfon Cement Corporation, situated in northern Haiphong city, was honoured by the Century International Quality ERA Selection Committee as a distinguished market leader which demonstrated excellence within its sector, increased market share, leadership and improved results as well as sustainability.
“This prestigious award reflects our continuous efforts to be the leader in quality in Vietnam market,” said Tony Liu, chairman and general director of Chinfon Cement Corporation.
He added the award encouraged the company to further strengthen its leadership position in the market through improving quality of products and customer services as well as making more contribution to charitable and social activities. One of the objectives for Chinfon Cement Corporation is sustainable growth and green development. Since it was introduced in Vietnam’s cement industry, the company has been investing in and improving environmental management programmes with these targets.
These include minimising heat in clinker production, dust emissions, noise and power consumption in cement production process. The company has been always proactively, regularly mobilising employees in tree plantings and keeping the environment green, clean and beautiful.
To confirm its goodwill in the works of environment protection, the company has decided to invest more than $20 million in a waste heat recovery system which will recover waste hot gases from the cement production lines to generate electricity. In terms of operation, the 12.5 MW power system will not only help to reduce production cost and solve problem of power shortage, but also minimise CO2 emission in cement production process.
After 20 years of development, with total investment capital of $450 million, Chinfon Cement Corporation has become a strong company with two production lines in the north, one cement grinding plant in the south, and an effective distribution network in domestic and international market. The first production line has total capacity of 4,900 tonnes of clinker per day, and the second production line has 4,800 tonnes of clinker per day. Hiep Phuoc Grinding Plant in Hiep Phuoc Industrial Zone, Ho Chi Minh City, has an annual cement capacity of 500,000 tonnes, contributing significantly to the balance of cement supply in the north and the south of Vietnam.
