German-backed Bosch last week was named the world’s “most admired motor vehicle parts supplier - by the US business magazine Fortune in its 2013 edition.

The company ranked first on all nine of Fortune’s reputation criteria within this category. The criteria include innovation, people management, use of assets, social responsibility, management quality, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products and service, and global competitiveness.

“Fortune’s recognition of our company is a testament to our associates’ achievements. They are dedicated to maintaining exceptional customer service and to developing innovative products and services that fascinate and improve quality of life for people around the world,” said Volkmar Denner, chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH. “We are honoured to be included in this list of successful companies.”

Bosch also marks a significant milestone this year as it celebrates 111 years of spark plug innovation, which helped achieve a breakthrough in the automotive industry in 1902.

Thanks to innovative material combinations, complex construction details and state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques, Bosch spark plugs have played an essential role in the development of high-performance, economical and environmentally-friendly engines. To date, Bosch has developed over 20,000 different types of spark plug and produced over 11 billion spark plugs in total. This is the second consecutive year that Bosch has been recognised as the most admired automotive supplier.

The company was ranked fifth among the “most admired” German companies included in the survey, and fifteenth among all companies outside the US.

Regarded as one of the most prominent surveys of company reputation since its launch in 1997, Fortune’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” list recognises companies worldwide based on feedback from business professionals in a wide range of industries. The companies are ranked according to the location of their headquarters.

Bosch has been present in Vietnam since 1994. In April 2008, it set up the 100 per cent foreign-owned subsidiary, Robert Bosch Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, with branch offices in Hanoi, Danang and a branch for manufacturing in Long Thanh district of southern Dong Nai province.
