Black clouds still hang over market

Put-through transactions soared Wednesday amidst gloomy sentiment on both bourses.

Put-through value made up 65 per cent trading value of the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) today, while making up 44 per cent of trading value of Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX).

On the HoSE, Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) had more than 1 million shares negotiated, while Ho Chi Minh City Securities (HCM) having some 860,000 units negotiated.

Besides, numerous stocks were strongly offered via put-through transactions today, among them Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), Hoa Phat Group (HPG), Ocean Group (OGC), Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corp. (REE), PetroVietnam Finance (PVF), Binh Minh Plastic (BMP) and Dong Phu Rubber (DPR).

Meanwhile, on the HNX Saigon-Hanoi Bank (SHB) had some 6.4 million shares negotiated and Sacomreal (SRC) having more than 1 million shares negotiated.

Whereas, market sentiment remained gloomy on both bourses with liquidity continuously falling to new low levels and supply pressures increasing.

Matching value was just VND205.2 billion ($9.9 million) on the HoSE and stayed at VND68.8 billion ($3.3 million) on HNX.

Market continued strongly fluctuating on investors’ cautious sentiment today. HoSE’s VN-Index shed 1.1 points or 0.29 per cent further to 375.79 points today, although advancers turned to outrun decliners 89 to 87.

Among top large-cap stocks, PetroVietnam Fertilises (DPM), PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services (PVD), Vinamilk (VNM) and FPT Corp. (FPT) modestly lost. Meanwhile Kinh Do Corp. (KDC) gained 2.56 per cent.

Financial stocks Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) and Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) ended down, while banking tickers Eximbank (EIB), Military Bank (MBB), Vietinbank (CTG) and Sacombank (STB) all unchanged. Vietcombank (VCB) slightly added.

More speculative stocks drove up today, among them real estate stocks Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure Investment (CII), Development Investment Construction (DIG), DIC Investment and Trading (DIC), Petro Capital Infrastructure Investment (PTL), Tu Liem Urban Development (NTL) were most active.

Mineral stocks Bac Giang Exploitable Mineral (BGM) advanced again, Duong Hieu Trading and Mining (DHM) hit the ceiling, while Binh Thuan Mineral Industry (KSA) and Nari Hamico Minerals (KSS) ending flat.

The HNX-Index increased 0.04 points or 0.08 per cent to end at 51 points, after falling to negative territory during the session. Advancers outran decliners 83 to 68 on the northern bourse.

Leading sentiment tickers still moved sideways, while several small-cap stocks in producing sectors like Vinh Khanh Cable Plastic Corp. (VKC), Tanphu Plastic (TPP), An Phat Plastic and Green Environment (AAA), and education tickers Educational Book JSC in Ha Noi City (EBS), Phuong Nam Education Investment. (SED) strongly rallying.
