Singaporean flagship education institution signs with Hanoi

The Hanoi People's Committee and KinderWorld signed the MoU at the ceremony

This year, the conference brought together around 1,000 representatives from state agencies, foreign embassies, international organisations, as well as foreign and domestic companies, with the aim to foster business and investment opportunities in the capital.

At the event, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for investment in international educational projects between KinderWorld Education Group and the Hanoi People’s Committee was signed by Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, and Ricky Tan, chairman of KinderWorld Education Group.

The MoU was set out not only to strengthen the investment cooperation between KinderWorld and Hanoi, but also to improve general education, vocational, life skill, and English competency training for officers, teachers, and students at local schools around the city. Additionally, it also aims to promote investment ties between Singapore and Vietnam and ultimately calls for more Singaporean investment projects into Hanoi.

As part of the MoU, the Hanoi People’s Committee will provide guidance to KinderWorld Education Group in terms of land sites as well as investment procedures. The company has been actively exploring suitable locations for potential development of its three flagship investment models, namely Singapore International School (Super School), Pegasus Smart Uni-City, and Outward Bound Vietnam & Eco-tourism, with a total estimated investment capital sum of $100 million.

KinderWorld is confident that with timely instruction from the city leaders, its effective cooperation with various local authorities will continue and extend the memorable investment journey it has had in Hanoi.

This is in alignment with the group’s strategy to extend its operations through various developments, including Singapore International School, Singapore Education Metropolis, Pegasus Smart Uni-City, Pegasus International University, and Pegasus Educational Eco-tourism Development in Hanoi, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Quang Tri, Danang, Binh Dinh, Nha Trang, Can Tho, and Kien Giang.

Being a responsible Singaporean enterprise, KinderWorld also committed to offer a range of scholarships worth up to VND5 billion ($220,000). A significant part of this will go towards the sustainable development of human resources in Hanoi by offering nearly 300 training courses in English Competency, Advanced Tourism Management, and VTOS (Vietnam Tourism Occupational Standards) courses in Food and Beverage and Culinary Arts to officers of the Hanoi Peoples’ Committee and the Department of Tourism, representatives from hotels as well as underprivileged students with the desire to succeed in this industry.

Additionally, 100 young adults from Hanoi Youth Union will benefit from the life-changing experience of Outward Bound Vietnam’s outdoor experiential training courses worth more than VND1.3 billion ($51,200) in value.

To contribute to the improvement of education in Hanoi, KinderWorld Education Group will fully support the Department of Education and Training in organising international education conferences in child education as well as other seminars for exchanging expertise in innovative teaching methodology in the districts of Ba Dinh, Tay Ho, Hoan Kiem, and Hoang Mai.

Also during this event, Tan, was awarded with the “For the Cause of the City Development” Medal by the Hanoi People’s Committee, the capital’s recognition for KinderWorld’s continuous contribution.

Since the establishment of its first international kindergarten campus in Hanoi, KinderWorld Education Group has invested almost $25 million in various educational projects in the city. Moreover, in terms of corporate social responsibility initiatives, leaders, employees, and students of the KinderWorld school system have contributed nearly VND10 billion ($440,000) to Hanoi and other provinces across Vietnam through a range of charitable activities and scholarships.
