PM Dung starts official tour to Belarus

Vietnamese PM Nguyen Tan Dung and his entourage on May 15 (local time) arrived in Minsk, starting an official tour to Belarus at the invitation of his Belarusian counterpart Mikhail Myiasnikovich.

The three-day visit aims to cement and deepen the traditional ties with Belarus and expand the cooperative relations especially in economics, trade, national defense, security and education and training.

Viet Nam and Belarus have enjoyed a traditional friendship relations and comprehensive cooperation.

The two sides have established close coordination and supported each other at international forums, and within the framework of the United Nations.

The bilateral economic and trade ties have experienced a stable growth with US$190 million two-way trade in 2012.

The two countries had signed an economic cooperation program for 2013-2015 which has set to increase bilateral trade to US$1 billion in the coming years.

Viet Nam and Belarus also have fostered cooperation in their other domains such as heavy industry, agriculture and processing industry.

Belarus joined in the first round of negotiations on a free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia in Ha Noi in late March, 2013.
