The Party leader made the statement during his meeting with Malaysian king Apdul Halim Muadzam Shah who is on a State visit to Viet Nam from September 5-8.
He expressed his belief that the Malaysian king’s visit would contribute to further strengthen the multifaceted ties between the two nations.
The host also suggested that both sides should continue the exchange of high-ranking delegations and expand cooperation in such fields like trade, investment, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
The Malaysian king congratulated on Viet Nam on its achievements in socio-economic development and diplomacy.
Malaysia is now Viet Nam’s 9th biggest trade partner with the two-way trade reaching nearly US$7.9 billion last year and US$3.6 billion in the first five months of 2013.
It has invested in 448 projects with total registered capital of over US100 billion, ranking 8thamong countries and territories investing in Viet Nam.
The Malaysian Government has officially received Vietnamese workers from 2002 and the two Governments have signed a labor cooperation agreement. At present, there are about 80,000 Vietnamese workers in the country.
Over the past years, both countries have signed several cooperative documents on such fields like visa exemption for ordinary passport holders, comprehensive cooperation framework in the 21st century, and anti-corruption.
They also signed some MoUs on education, defense, banking and information and communication technology cooperation.
