Prime Minister Key’s visit will include meetings with government and business leaders, and presence at a special Rugby World Cup 2011 luncheon.
Organised by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), the luncheon serves to showcase New Zealand’s rugby traditions, spectacular scenery, culture and sustainable practices.
New Zealand Trade Commissioner to Vietnam, Graham Sims, himself a former New Zealand ‘All Black’ says: “Rugby is a national passion for New Zealanders, but it isn’t closely followed in South and South East Asia.
Prime Minister Key’s presence at the luncheon is an opportunity for key players to network and discover the multiple business opportunities available in various sectors – before, during and after the tournament.”
Key’s visit will also include attending events to strengthen trade and commercial links, and promote New Zealand business’s activity in the region, including aviation and education.
This visit builds on the successful trip by Key to Viet Nam in July, and the later signing of a joint action plan by foreign ministers where both countries stated their intention to deepen the bilateral economic, commercial, investment and trade links.
In 2010, Forbes ranked New Zealand as the third best country to do business in, based on criteria such as trade and monetary freedom, property rights, innovation, technology and market performance.
