The TILOG – Logistix Exhibition opened today in Thailand, aiming to connect regional logistics firms in preparation for the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community.

The exhibition, co-organised by the Thai Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and Reed Tradex, has attracted 400 brands from 25 countries and expected to attract 9,000 visitors for its three-day show. Exhibitors and visitors hailed from a wide variety of sectors, including material handling, packing, warehousing, loading and telecommunications services.

The theme of this year’s show is ASEAN+6 Connectivity, which emphasises the linkage between logistics firms in the ASEAN and nearby Asian countries to create an efficient supply chain for Asia.

“We hope that the TILOG – Logistix exhibition 2015 will help Southeast Asian firms better prepare for the changing circumstances with the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). As trade and commerce is expected to increase following the AEC, it is vital that logistics and supply chain firms in the region improve their services and connect with each other to capitalise on the new opportunities,” shared Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, director-general of the DITP.

To illustrate this point, the DITP’s representatives noted a strong desire from Thai logistics firms to cooperate with their Vietnamese counterparts in order to foster a streamlined supply chain from inland ASEAN to other regions, notably East Asia.

This year, the show’s programme also features a symposium on ASEAN+6 Trade Logistics Connectivity, attended by industrial experts from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and many others.

The exhibition will continue at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre until September 4.
