Yamaha Motor to expand Hanoi-based factory

The Japanese motorbike manufacturer Yamaha has promised to invest $26 million in its factory in Hanoi to increase the capacity by 50 per cent to 1.5 million units per year.

This effort is part of Yamaha's $90 million investment plan to meet high demand for motorbikes in Vietnam and India.

Total profit from motorbike sales in Vietnam grew 19 per cent in the first six months of the year compared to the same period last year.

Yamaha sales peaked at 6.96 million units globally last year, ranking second after Honda Motor Corp.
