Vingroup has separated its big data institute to form a separate entity

On September 14, Vingroup’s Board of Directors approved the formation of a subsidiary. Accordingly, the group decided to separate part of the science and technology functions of the VinBig Data institute of VinTech JSC to establish VinBigData JSC.

VinBigDataaims to investigate, develop, and innovate novel products and solutions to strengthen the growing scientific and technological capacity of the nation.

With the goal of building a solid foundation for the sustainable development of Vietnam’s society and for the benefit of future generations, VinBigData’sscientific team specialises in the research of fundamental and applied sciences. It focuses on four key areas of data science: biomedical informatics, medical image processing, computer vision, and natural language processing.

Previously in early August, Vingroup established Artificial Intelligence Research JSC (VinAI), the first AI research lab in Vietnam doing fundamental research. It will have headquarters in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and a network spanning across the United States, Australia, France, and the Asia-Pacific.

"With the aim of becoming a Vietnamese AI champion, VinAI will provide AI solutions in areas including computer vision, natural language processing, speech recognition, and machine learning. Prioritising speed and commitment in solving our client’s problems, we focus on areas in which we have an outstanding technological advantage. Our solutions aim to meet a global need and to be applied in many different industries," the company added.
