Vietnamese firms to gain big on Industry 4.0

Reputable experts from the technology industry prophesised big opportunities for the country

This was the expert assessment in the business conference themed “Digital Enterprise - On the Way to Industry 4.0” in Hanoi today.

According to Cao Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) can create both opportunities and challenges for Vietnam.

At the conference, updating new technological solutions to support Vietnamese enterprises on their way to Industry 4.0 was discussed in the open dialogues with respected panelists.

“With Digital Enterprise, Siemens offers solutions to address the specific requirements of the manufacturing and processing industry. These solutions combine the world of planning and operation to create an integral plant management concept covering the entire lifecycle of an industrial plant,” said Pham Thai Lai, CEO and president of Siemens Vietnam.

He also emphasised that Vietnamese customers are not alone on their way to Industry 4.0 and they can count on Seimens.

“Vietnam needs to create motivation for enterprises, such as creating favourable conditions in the legal framework, so that they are confident to join the revolution,” Lai said.

An active approach to state-of-the-art technologies and new development trends in the fourth industrial revolution have been strongly promoted by the Vietnamese government as is clearly stated in Directive No.16/CT-TTg issued by the prime minister on May 5, 2017 on capacity building towards Industry 4.0.

However, experts said the involvement of authorities at all levels is the prerequisite for Vietnam to seize opportunities generated by this revolution.

“Supporting companies to access information and data as well as transfer technology and become digital enterprises will be one of the key priorities of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the coming time, by the execution of Directive 16,” Hung said.
