VietJetAir is rapidly growing its fleet as it last week received another Airbus A320 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the second added to its fleet within a month.

The new craft will help VietJetAir expand its network with more domestic connections to be launched soon and proceed with plans to debut its first international route in early 2013.

“First and foremost, we are delighted to add one more new Airbus plane to our fleet,” said Pritam Singh, deputy director of VietJetAir. “We are also especially excited that are incredible cabin crew can continue to symbolize VietJetAir’s core attractions both on the outside of the plane and onboard when serving our customers.”

Singh said: “VietJetAir is a new generation airline and our wonderful stewards symbolise our vitality and commitment to offering dynamic and professional services.”

Before the end this year, the carrier is expected to receive one more new aircraft Airbus A320, to create a fleet of six aircraft.

VietJetAir initially launched services in late December, 2011. Quickly expanding, it will by its first anniversary operate 22 daily roundtrip frequencies on nine domestic routes. The budget airline currently operates five domestic routes and an average of 10 daily frequencies.

On October 4th 2012, VietJetAir announced plans to add another four routes in November 2012 and December 2012, including Ho Chi Minh City to Hue, Phu Quoc and Vinh.

Moreover, it is looking at launching its first international route, possibly Ho Chi Minh City-Bangkok, in late 2012 or early 2013.

VietJetAir said it expects to expand its fleet  to 15 aircraft by 2015 to serve an expanding network of  domestic and international routes.

“With our modernised fleet of Airbus aircraft, our excellent customer services and convenient payment systems, we can now continue to serve our growing customer base with the highest quality services at the most affordable costs possible,” added Singh.

The planned expansion would enable VietJetAir is expected to replace Jetstar Pacific Airlines to become the second largest player in the market by the end of the year, following state-owned Vietnam Airlines.

Jetstar Pacific accounts for about 14 per cent of Vietnam’s domestic market, while VietJet accounts for 9 per cent, according to global aviation analysis provider CAPA-Centre for Aviation.
