Unilever Vietnam, together with seven washing machine makers, has made public its washing Omo Matic solution, designed to help people select suitable detergents with suitable prices and use washing machines better.

Addressing the August 16 solution launch in Ho Chi Minh City, Unilever Vietnam chairman JV Raman said Unilever Global has committed to make the life of the Vietnamese better, and the solution was part of the commitment.

Seven washing machine manufacturers giving a hand to Unilever Vietnam in the initiative are Panasonic, LG, Electrolux, Maytag, Sanyo, Toshiba and Bosch.

They already put online a free 24/07 hotline at 1900 1272 to answer the general public’s questions about which detergents they should use for which washing machines, how to effectively use different kinds of washing machine and the like. A website is available at www.omovietnam.com for public use.

Nguyen Thi Bich Van, in charge of family care products at Unilever Vietnam, said under a recent study Vietnamese women are using washing machines 6.4 times per week, meaning almost every day. The new solution aims to help them ease their housework burdens, she added.

Up to 90 per cent families in Vietnam use a washing machine by just pressing the ON/OFF button, according to the study, Van said. Therefore, the seven washing machine makers have teamed up with Unilever to help the general public use the machine in a more effective manner.
