Unilever Vietnam on August 23 in Hanoi launched a campaign to promote the use of qualified helmets in cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Union and the National Traffic Safety Committee.

For the campaign, Unilever’s anti-dandruff shampoo brand Clear will work with the National Institute of Dermatology of Vietnam to help Vietnamese bikers use helmets without having to worry about scalp problems.

Motorbike is the most popular means of transportation in Vietnam. Motorbikes are involved in 70 per cent of the 30,000 traffic accidents that happened in the country in 2013. As helmets are effective in lowering the risk of head injuries, 30 per cent of which lead to death, starting 2007, Vietnam has required all motorbike users to wear a helmet on the road.

Multinational giant Unilever has had many activities to connect with communities and boost sustainable growth in Vietnam.

In February 2014 Unilever Vietnam combined forces with Vietnam’s agriculture ministry and international NGOs to launch the Vietnam Tea Initiative, a public-private partnership for better quality, sustainably produced tea. Meanwhile, the Unilever Vietnam Foundation has funded many health and hygiene projects aiming to improve the life of Vietnamese people.
