Thang Long Cement has just completed exporting the second 10,500 tonne bulk shipment of cement to the Indonesian market.

Thang Long Cement is one of the few manufacturers in Vietnam that can directly load bulk cement on to specialised vessels via a belt conveyor system.

Thang Long Cement finished its strategy restructure last December by announcing the formal share acquisition of 70 per cent by PT. Semen Indonesia. The Indonesian shareholder hopes to raise Thang Long Cement’s registered capital to $200 million from $83 million.

Since the time to become the strategy shareholder, Semen Indonesia has helped Thang Long Cement to focus its marketing activities on highly profitable domestic and foreign markets.

“By setting up close connections between Thang Long Cement and other Indonesia Semen members such as Semen Padang, Semen Tonasa, we hope that Thang Long Cement will overcome current challenges in local market and take advantage of new opportunities in oversea markets,” said Johan Samudra, general director of Semen Indonesia.

Semen Indonesia’s marketing director Amat Pria Darma said that besides traditional markets, Thang Long Cement has been continuously expanding its market in Quang Ninh, Hanoi and central provinces, as well as increasing the consumed quantity of big projects.

“We also have long term contracts with big foreign partners to export cement and clinker to many countries in Asia, Africa, Latin  America. This helps us to enhance the brand name of Thang Long Cement in overseas markets,” said Amat.

Thang Long Cement is one of the leading cement producers in Vietnam with the total capacity of 2.3 million tonnes annually.

Located in Cai Lan deep port in northern Quang Ninh province, the factory is equipped with advanced Polysius technology and a miller in Hiep Phuoc Industrial Zone of Ho Chi Minh City.

The factory has high competitiveness due to it locates near water way system and inter-provincial road system, as well as international port.

Founded in 1957, Semen Gresik is the biggest cement producer in Indonesia with the capacity of more than 26 million tonnes per year, occupying more than 40 per cent of the national supply.
