Sumitomo Corporation and SBI Holdings acquire stakes in FPT's AI Japan facility

On April 22, FPT Corporation announced a strategic partnership with Sumitomo and SBI Holdings to accelerate AI adoption through the FPT AI Factory ecosystem, contributing to the advancement of sovereign AI in Japan. This partnership lays a critical foundation for delivering cutting-edge AI solutions to organisations and enterprises in Japan, expediting AI integration across all aspects of society and supporting the nation’s ambition to become a global AI leader.

With the rapid adoption of generative AI and the push for digital experience, the amount of data generated from individual and corporate activities is exploding, and the demand for advanced computing infrastructure is growing rapidly.

As an Nvidia partner, FPT was able to secure a stable supply of GPUs. In November 2024, FPT announced the launch of FPT AI Factory, a comprehensive suite for end-to-end AI development lifecycle, and established FPT Smart Cloud Japan to create an ecosystem of products and solutions based on AI and cloud technologies.

Sumitomo Corporation has been developing its digital business for more than 50 years, mainly in Japan. Sumitomo Corporation has developed its business domestically and internationally in a wide range of digital business fields, including consulting, system development, data centres, and BPO, and has established and owns networks with various companies and customers in each region.

The SBI Group has been working with FPT Corporation for a long time to contribute to the revitalisation of the financial and IT industries in Vietnam through its investments in FPT Securities, FPT Fund Management and TPBank.

Through this alliance, FPT, Sumitomo Corporation and SBI Holdings will jointly develop new AI solutions and expand its AI service business in Japan. Three companies will also accelerate research capabilities and utilisation of AI applications and GenAI for corporate customers, contributing to dramatic improvements in productivity and customer experience across industries.
