The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose 0.65 per cent to end morning session at 846.94 points.
More than 149 million shares were traded on the southern exchange, worth VNĐ2.5 trillion (US$107.6 million).
The blue-chip index VN30 gained 0.87 per cent to 788.96 points.
Twenty-four of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and trading liquidity in the large-cap basket increased while four declined.
Notable gainers included insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), FPT Corporation (FPT), PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), Masan Group (MSN), steel maker Hoa Phat Group (HPG), Vingroup (VIC) and Mobile World Group (MWG).
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index went up 0.68 per cent to end Monday morning at 113.55 points.
Nearly 33.5 million shares were traded on the two exchanges, worth VND363 trillion.
