Seminar highlights Cangzhou rich potential

The rich history, colourful culture and dynamic economy of Cangzhou, the second highest growing economy of China’s Hebei province got exposure to the audiences through presentation by Shang Liguang, party chief of Cangzhou province.

Cangzhou is located in southeast Hebei, covering an area of 14,000 square kilometres with a population of 7.6 million.

The ancient city is the homeland of Wushu (Martial Arts), acrobatics, pipes and foundry, golden-thread jujube, and Ya pears.

The province’s GDP reached 313.3 billion yuan ($49.7 billion) last year.

An open coastal city, Cangzhou enjoys enormous opportunities for development brought in by diverse national strategies, such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei development cooperation strategy, One Belt and One Road, and Bohai Sea surrounding region development cooperation strategies.

With seven railways and seven highways linking to Cangzhou, it only takes 51 minutes to Beijing and 22 minutes to Tianjin. Its own port Huanghua can berth ships up to 200,000 tonnage.

The province is also home to 37,000 hectares of cultivable land and 147,000 hectares of unused land on the coast, creating valued treasure for coastal industries.

Pipe and fitting is the dominant industry of Cangzhou with 3,459 pipe and fitting manufacturers employing 136,000 labourers.

Cangzhou is known as the pipe and fitting manufacturing base of China. Through cooperation with universities and scientific research institutes such as Tsinghua University and Harbin Institute of Technology, factories in Cangzhou can design and produce 16 classes, 370 varieties and 3,500 kinds of steel pipes, elbows, flanges and fittings, which are widely used in fields as power, petro-chemical, civil works, ship building, aviation, coal mines, and military industries.

The pipes and fittings made in Cangzhou account about 60 per cent in China and are exported to more than 90 countries and regions globally.

Xinzhonglian Special Steel Tube Co., Ltd, a leading producer of rectangular pipes domestically, is unique producer of pipes for advanced shipbuilding industry as well as new guardrail piles in China.

Huayang Steel Pipe Co., Ltd., supplying ERW high frequency welded pipes and LSAW pipes, is the largest pipe manufacturer in Hebei, meanwhile Synda Steel Pipe Co., Ltd., a professional manufacturer of spiral pipe using cutting-edge technologies, is a Class A supplier to big Chinese companies such as Sinopec and Petrochina.

The half-day seminar attracted about 10 delegates from Cangzhou and 70 local businesses.
