Russian Far East tourists flock to Vietnam’s central coast

A Russia OrenAir plane carrying 190 passengers from Krasnoyarsk city landed at Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa province on October 30, starting the winter vacation service from Russia’s Far East to the central coastal cities of Nha Trang and Phan Thiet.

The air service, which will last until April 2012, connects nine cities in far eastern Russia such as Kharbarovsk, Vladivostoks, Novosibirsk and Kemerovo with Vietnam ’s popular beach resort cities.

According to director of the Khanh Hoa provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Truong Dang Tuyen, about 70 per cent of Russian tourists using this route will stay in Nha Trang and the rest, in Phan Thiet city in neighbouring Binh Thuan province.

He said local tourism operators have designed tours for sight-seeing, relaxation, and discovering Vietnamese culture. Khanh Hoa province has received approximately 400,000 foreign tourists so far, including nearly 30,000 Russians.
