Pegasus International UniCentre, the professional training arm of the KinderWorld Education Group, just announced the completion of the second cohort of Dreams to Reality scholarship for students living in hardship in the provinces of Hung Yen and Vinh Phuc.

Pegasus is offering international standard catering courses

Eleventh grade-student Do Thi My Huyen from My Hao High School who came top in the second cohort of Dreams to Reality scholarship offered by Pegasus, has secured a job at the five-star Flamingo Dai Lai Resort in the northern province of Vinh Phuc.

“I attended the course because I was interested in the hospitality sector. I might consider venturing into the hospitality industry someday” Huyen said.

In addition to the Flamingo Dai Lai, Pegasus has built partnerships with other 4-5 stars hotels to introduce its trainees to potential employers, said Dr. Tran Thi Minh Khanh – Centre Director of Pegasus International UniCentre.

Pegasus International UniCentre (PIU) began offering the two-week Introduction to Culinary Arts course six months ago, and received strong enrolment from young people who wanted to learn the basics of cooking in order to become more self-sufficient.

As part of the Swing for the Kids charity golf event organised by VIR this April, KinderWorld together with PIU as gold sponsor, awarded 54 Dreams to Reality scholarships worth $10,152 to provide students with the basic skills to enable them to work in the hospitality industry.

Thus far 36 students living in hardship from Ha Nam, Hung Yen and Vinh Phuc provinces have participated in the programme. The final group of 18 students will begin the programme later this year.

The Dreams to Reality scholarship is a two-week introduction to cooking which uses contemporary methodology and teaching materials. Consisting of sixty contact hours, students are equipped with the basic knowledge and skills to organise and prepare a variety of foods for a commercial kitchen. The course is also designed to provide students with the necessary basic practical culinary and employment skills that meet the sector’s specific needs. Successful students will receive accreditation.

The Dreams to Reality scholarship for June 2013 to May 2014, will include tuition fees, course materials (food costs and learning materials), daily lunch and transportation expenses.

The KinderWorld Education Group embarked on its first investment in Vietnam in 2000, and it has since established 14 KinderWorld International Kindergarten and Singapore International School campuses across Vietnam.
