Pegasus offers “Dreams to Reality” scholarship for students in hardship

Pegasus International UniCentre, the professional training arm of KinderWorld Education Group began the “Dreams to Reality” scholarship programme for students living in hardship in the surrounding provinces of Hanoi.

As part of the Swing for the Kids charity golf event organised by the Vietnam Investment Review this April, KinderWorld together with Pegasus International UniCentre (PIU) as gold sponsor , awarded 54 “Dreams to Reality” scholarships worth VND 216 million ($10,152) to provide students with the basic skills to enable them to work in the hospitality industry.

Prof. John Duffield, Vice-Principal, Edinburgh Napier University – Strategic collaborative partner of KinderWorld said: “I highly appreciate the programme. This course will provide students in hardship with basic skills and knowledge to start their career in hospitality industry in the future as a part of KinderWorld’s corporate social responsibilities”.

The “Dreams to Reality” scholarship is a two week introduction to cooking course using contemporary methodology and learning materials. Students will have the opportunity to study and practice with the latest equipment and facilities within an international learning environment. The course will be delivered by highly skilled and professional lecturers who possess an enormous wealth of industry experience.

The duration of sixty contact hours will equip students with the basic knowledge and skills to organise and prepare a variety of foods for a commercial kitchen. More importantly, the course is designed to provide students with the necessary basic practical culinary and employment skills that meet the sector’s specific needs.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded certification for the skills they have attained.

PIU’s centre director Tran Thi Minh Khanh said that PIU would promote the programme to its partners in the industry such as The Bistro Restaurant and Flamingo Dai Lai Resort in an aim to provide support to successful students seeking job opportunities in the hospitality industry.

The “Dreams to Reality” scholarship will include tuition fee, course materials (food costs and learning materials), daily lunch and transportation costs.
