This is the 14th year in a row that Manulife joined the event which attracted more than 800 agents and employees of Manulife Vietnam.
Throughout the event, Manulife donated VND100 million ($4,750) for cancer research to find out more effective cancer treatments.
The “Terry Fox Run” has been organising annually by the Consulate General of Canada, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (CanCham) with the support of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations for the last 18 years.
The event has received enthusiastic responses and support from companies, schools, communities and individuals in Ho Chi Minh City.
Last year, the event drew an incredible number of 15,500 participants, raising VND1.8 billion ($857,000).
“Terry Fox Run has been an annual activity of Manulife Vietnam. Community support becomes a good culture of Manulife since the early days of our establishment. This is also one of the core business values of Manulife in all nations where we operate,” said Paul Nguyen, CEO of Manulife Vietnam.
"Manulife Vietnam is proud to be an organisation having the largest delegation partaking in the Run. This expresses the advocacy and responsibility of our agents and staff to the community, particularly to underprivileged people, helping them to have more motivation to overcome adversity and have a better life,” he added.
In early November, nearly 500 agents and employees of Manulife Vietnam in Hanoi took part in the ‘Hanoi Run for Children’ 2014, also held by CanCham, where Manulife acted as a marquee sponsor and contributed VND160 million ($7,600) to assist underprivileged children with cancer and heart disease treatment at the National Hospital of Pediatrics, Hanoi Heart Hospital and in the Heartbeat Vietnam programme.
