“With OneDrive, we want to give you one place for all of your stuff: your photos, videos, documents and other files. Of course, to do this, we need to make sure you actually have enough storage space for everything, particularly given that the amount of content everyone has is growing by leaps and bounds,” said Nguyen Hong Hanh of Microsoft Vietnam.
It’s also clear that everybody want more than just the ability to store the stuffs in the cloud. Users want to be able to share it, to collaborate on it, and so much more. The landscape is changing to the point that people believe it’s no longer enough to provide only cloud storage — that’s table stakes. To align with the demands, Microsoft provides a complete experience that brings in the power of Office and lets people do more with everything they put in their OneDrive — whether they can share favorite photos with the people via simple click or working together in real time on an important project. And below are details for OneDrive users and Office 365 subscribers:
OneDrive comes with 15 GB for free (up from 7GB)
From the specific survey, Microsoft found out that three out of four people have less than 15GB of files stored on their PC. Factoring in what they may also have stored on other devices, Microsoft believes that 15GB for free right out of the gate – with no hoops to jump through – will make it much easier for people to have their documents, videos, and photos available in one place.
All versions of Office 365 will come with 1TB of OneDrive storage
Customers will get 1TB of OneDrive if they are Microsoft Office 365 subscribers. This means, Office 365 subscribers will get the power of the world’s most popular productivity suite, Office, along with apps for their laptop, smartphone, and tablet, plus an enormous amount of storage, for an unbelievably low price. In details, if Customer is Office 365 Home ($9.99/month) they will have 1TB per person (up to five people), and with Office 365 Personal ($6.99/month) and University ($79.99/year) they will get 1TB per subscription. This is a great follow to Microsoft announcement during April that all OneDrive for Business customers will get 1TB of cloud storage per person too.
Microsoft drops storage prices by over 70 per cent
More than that, Microsoft also want to give Customers as much flexibility as possible. So for customer who need more storage, but don’t need an Office 365 subscription, Microsoft have another option: monthly subscription storage options with breakthru reduced rates. The new monthly prices will be $1.99 for 100GB (previously $7.49) and $3.99 for 200GB (previously $11.49). For current subscribers, they automatically be moved to the lower prices.
