According to Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, and VietJet Air, most of their air tickets for short-distance flights from Ho Chi Minh City to some localities in the central and northern regions have been sold out.
However, they added there are many available tickets on routes from HCMC to Da Nang and Hanoi and from Da Nang and Hanoi to HCMC during the Tet festival.
During period from Jan. 25 to 29, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) operates 23 flights on HCMC – Hanoi route per day while Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific offer 10 and 8 flights per day respectively.
VNA also operates night flights during the above period but there are numerous vacant seats.
Representatives of the three airlines have advised passengers to directly contact their switchboards, official websites and official agents to book tickets in order not to fall victim to scam websites.
In other news, low-cost carrier Vietjet Air offers service for transporting apricot and peach flowers on all its domestic flights during Tet.
Accordingly, each passenger is allowed to carry one (01) bunch of apricot or peach blossom flowers. Size of the bunch doesn’t exceed 150cmx40cmx40cm. Each flight will only carry a maximum of 30 bunches. It charges VND350,000 (roughly US$17) for each bunch (VAT not included).
At a meeting in Hanoi last December, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung agreed to extend the upcoming Tet holiday to 9 days from 7 days, based on the proposal submitted by transport minister Dinh La Thang.
Accordingly, people will have nine days off from January 28 to February 5, 2014, which means two more days off before Tet’s Eve which falls on January 31, 2014.
