Nikkiso Vietnam, Inc., (NVI) has shipped its first set of GE blocker doors to Spirit AeroSystems, marking a milestone achievement for the company.

The blocker door is a key component on Boeing 777 airplane engines.

The blocker door parts, which are made of composites, are delivered to the nacelle manufacturer Spirit AeroSystems. They will be installed on the GE115and shipped to Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Everett, WA, for final assembly of Boeing 777 aircraft.

NVI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan’s Nikkiso, located in northern Hung Yen province of Vietnam and has an investment capital of $1 million. The parent company, Nikkiso, based in Tokyo, is also delivering the composite cascade, a part used in the thrust reverser system, to Spirit for this programme.

NVI held its opening ceremony in January 2010 with representatives from the government of Vietnam and from aerospace industry leaders, including John Pilla, senior vice president and general manager of Propulsion Segment of Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., and Skip Boyce, president of Boeing Southeast Asia.

Since the opening ceremony, NVI successfully met Boeing’s qualifications to produce these parts. In March 2011, First Article Inspection was completed and production was approved by Spirit AeroSystems, Inc.
