Nation’s stocks see red

Vietnam stocks dipped on Thursday with the nation’s two bourses sinking into the red.

Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange’s (HoSE) VN-Index lost 6.12 points, or 1.27 per cent, to 475.41 points. Hanoi Stock Exchange’s (HNX) HNX-Index fell 2.51 points, or 2.21 per cent, to 111.22 points.

HoSE trading volumes edged down 6.97 per cent to 57.22 million shares worth VND1.417 trillion ($70.85 million) changing hands. On the HNX trading values rose 23.14 per cent to VND843.98 billion ($42.2 million), in which 40.75 million shares were traded, yet still stood below the VND1 trillion ($50 million) level.

SSI and QCG were the most active in terms of liquidity on the HoSE, yet just three million units were traded each, followed by ITA and STB with two million units.

On the HoSE, Bao Viet Holding BVH and Masan Group MSN alone led VN-Index off 2.3 points, after hitting the supporting benchmark yesterday. Both two codes fell VND2,000.

Other blue-chips finished lower, of which Vincom VIC fell VND2,000, PetroVietnam Finance PFV and Licogi LCG gave back VND900, Saigon Securities SSI and Sacombank STB were down VND400.

The total decline for the 10 deepest falling codes was 4.45 points, equivalent to 72 per cent of the entire market’s decline. Otherwise, real estate sector slumped most off 3.5 points.

Among the increased stocks, Vinpearl was up VND1,800 higher to VND39,300, along with some major stocks Dam Phu My DPM, Hoang Anh Gia Lai HAG, Kinh Bac City KBC, FPT slightly rose.

Stocks like TS4, VPL, IDJ and DAG hit ceiling, meanwhile DXG, PVT, SHI, SRC and VIP hit floor, ending the session in red color with 196 stocks fell (26 hit floor), 40 codes up and 37 were unchanged.

The HNX-Index fell again for the fourth session. The benchmark steadily moved down, after rose just for awhile at the opening. For the four falling trading days, VN-Index had given up 8.48 points or 7 per cent.

Supportive codes continued to move down, of which Asian Bank ACB was off VND1,000 to VND24,900, Habubank HBB gave back VND800. SHB, KLS, PVX and VCG ended lower also.

Foreigners in this trading day suddenly reduced their net buying on HoSE to 6.5 million shares, down 16 per cent against yesterday’s session. The buying focused more on blue-chips, in which KBC, PVF and DPM were purchased most, followed by CTG, HAG, HPG, VCB, PPC and PVD.
