Cash strongly flew into speculative small-cap and mid-cap stocks after the sign of possible market upswing yesterday. Total matching value soared to VND588.9 billion ($28.3 million), 50 per cent higher than that yesterday’s session.
Put-through value also increased. Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) had 40.5 million shares worth VND440.7 billion ($21.2 million) traded and Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) had 39.2 million shares worth VND217.4 billion ($10.5 million) changing hands.
Speculative small-cap and mid-cap stocks like Bac Giang Exploitable Mineral (BGM), Truong Thanh Furniture Corp. (TTF), Tay Bac Minerals Investment (KTB), Duong Hieu Trading and Mining (DHM), Sai Gon General Service Corp. (SVC) sharply rose on strong demand.
Real-estate cheap stocks largely jumped, with Hoang Quan Consulting-Trading-Service Real Estate Corp. (HQC), Duc Long Gia Lai (DLG), Ocean Group (OGC), Hoa Binh Construction & Real Estate Corp. (HBC), Petro Capital Infrastructure Investment (PTL), Development Investment Construction (DIG), Dat Xanh Real Estate Service & Constructions Corp. (DXG) up 2-4 per cent each.
Whereas, real-estate large-cap tickers like Licogi 16 (LCG), Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure Investment (CII), Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), Song Da Urban & Industrial Zone Investment and Development (SJS) just modestly rose or ended flat.
Banking stocks also improved from a flat trend, with Vietcombank (VCB) jumping 3.77 per cent, Eximbank (EIB) gained 1.43 per cent, while Military Bank (MBB) and Vietinbank (CTG) were slightly up.
More stocks turned head to rise on the southern bourse. Some 162 stocks were up, 47 were down and 103 stayed unchanged. The VN-Index rose 3.59 points or 0.94 per cent to 385.69 points.
On the HNX, real-estate tickers led the gainers with Vietnam Construction and Import - Export (VCG) and PetroVietnam-Nghe An Construction (PVA) hitting the ceiling. Saigon Commercial Real Estate (SRC) strongly rose 4.55 per cent, PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) advanced 2.33 per cent and Petro Vietnam Power Land (PVL) was up 3.7 per cent.
Financial shares Saigon-Hanoi Bank (SHB), VNDirect Securities (VND), Bao Viet Securities (BVS), Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) modestly climbed 1-2 per cent each.
Advancers strongly outran decliners 140 to 56 on the northern bourse, pushing the benchmark HNX-Index up 0.61 points or 1.18 per cent to 52.1 points.
