Dairy giant Vinamilk (VNM) led the gainers, jumping VND3,000 to VND113,000.
PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services (PVD) hit the ceiling while Vinpearl Tourism and Trading (VPL) and Hoa Phat Group (HPG) strongly up.
Sacombank (STB) was active with 3.1 million shares matched today, closing 3.17 per cent higher. Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) followed with 940,000 units traded.
The benchmark VN-Index climbed 0.13 points or 0.03 per cent to 425.42 points. However, decliners strongly outran advancers 116 to 83 on the investors’ weak sentiment regarding macroeconomics.
Some major stocks were among the losers, with PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) losing 3.78 per cent, FPT Corp. (FPT) 1.29 per cent and Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG) 1.05 per cent.
Real estate stocks Tan Tao Investment Industry Corporation (ITA) and Licogi 16 (LCG) both fell.
“Several commercial banks will likely not meet the requirements of non-producing credit, weighing on the cash flows and investors’ sentiment on stock market,” said Hanoi Securities.
Trade volumes hit 23.9 million shares, worth VND419 billion ($20.2 million). Put-through volume was of 8.6 million shares worth VND156 billion ($7.5 million), with Sacombank (STB) the most active.
The HNX-Index of Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) also added 0.25 points to 73.01 points, after 138 stocks rising on the northern bourse. Some 93 stocks were off and 153 unchanged.
Securities company shares VnDirect Securities (VND), Kim Long Securities (KLS) and Bao Viet Securities (BVS) all gained.
Major stocks PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) and Vinaconex (VCG) were up as well. Banking shares largely ended flat.
Liquidity remained low at 19 million shares worth VND214 billion ($10.3 million). KLS outperformed the market with 2.9 million shares changing hands.
