Maersk Line names new head for Vietnam

It is the first time a local representative has taken this position and Bich will also become the legal representative for Maersk Vietnam Limited consisting of Maersk Line, Damco, Safmarine and MCC.


Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich is the new general director of Maersk Line Vietnam.

On her new appointment, Bich said: “It’s with great honour I commence in this position, and I’m very excited to take on this interesting challenge.”

The 34-year-old has been with the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group for 11 years, with various positions in both line and logistics of the group of Danish roots. She started her career in 2002 after being accepted into the Maersk management training programme MISE. In 2004, she was expatriated to Singapore doing line management for the Pacific and Latin American routes. Later on Bich spent two years in the sales department before taking up the position as head of commercial planning followed by the position as general manager for the key unit, trade and marketing.

Former general director of Maersk Line Vietnam and Cambodia, Peter Smidt-Nielsen, said: “Bich has shown a very strong ability to consistently learn and take on new challenges successfully. She can manage many things simultaneously. She is an excellent team player and she knows our business extremely well. I am very confident that she will bring the company to even higher levels of success than today.”

Meanwhile, Bich said: “As a global carrier connecting the world to Vietnam and Cambodia, we take a strong pride in being a proactive player in facilitating and developing the countries’ trade and business, infrastructure, and attractiveness for foreign direct investments.”
