Liquidity strongly recovered on Tuesday, after yesterday’s soaring session.

Total trading values of the two bourses rose to VND1.5 trillion ($73.2 million). Some 45.3 million shares worth VND740 billion ($36.1 million) were traded on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), with matching value jumping to VND627 billion ($30.6 million).

Meanwhile, up to 67.2 million shares worth VND756 billion ($36.9 million) changed hands on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX). Matching volumes dramatically rose to more than 60 million units on the bourse.

Investors rushed to mid-price speculative shares. Some 8.7 million Kim Long Securities (KLS) shares were matched, followed by PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) and VnDirect Securities (VND) at 7.6 million shares and 6.4 million shares changing hands, respectively.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corp. (REE) and Hoang Quan Consulting-Trading-Service Real Estate Corp (HQC) topped active stocks on the HoSE.

A mass of other speculative stocks like Vietnam Construction and Import-Export (VCG), Hanoi Investment General Corp. (SHN), Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Bank (SHB), Bao Viet Securities JSC  (BVS) on the HNX, Licogi 16 JSC (LCG), Tan Tao Investment Industry Corp. (ITA) on the HoSE also saw their trading volumes reaching 1.5-3 million shares each.

The HoSE opened the session with steep gains. However, selling pressures climbed mid-session restrained the rising momentum. The benchmark VN-Index closed at 419.26 points, up 5.89 points or 1.42 per cent, after 183 stocks gaining and 48 declining on the bourse.

Real estate stocks continued among top gainers with Ocean Group (OGC), DESCON Construction Corp. (DCC), Ba Ria-Vung Tau House Development (HDC), Vietnam Mechanisation Electrification and Construction (MCG) and Hong Phat Construction Investment (HPR) massively hitting the ceiling.

The HNX also advanced modestly 1.23 points or 1.72 per cent to close at 72.56 points. Some 213 stocks ended higher with 73 hit ceiling, while 68 off and up to 105 stocks unchanged or un-traded.
