Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Politburo member of the Party Central Committee and Cabinet Minister-Chairman of the Governmental Office, said at the launch ceremony that the partnership between Truong Hai Auto and the Hyundai Group was a highlight in the strategic relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

He promised the government’s support for THACO’s effort to manufacture vehicles with an increasing proportion of locally made parts, in the interest of the national auto industry.

Vice president of the Hyundai Group Han Young Choi pledged long-term and comprehensive cooperation with THACO, after witnessing progress made by the Vietnamese side in the recent transfer of technology in hi-tech auto production and assembly.

The first batch of THACO-Hyundai vehicles included cranes, tankers and garbage trucks, in addition to light and heavy tonnage trucks.

THACO said its products would benefit domestic customers by providing international quality vehicles at local prices.
