Chinese telecom vendor Huawei yesterday donated 100 computers to 11 schools in Hanoi to facilitate learning in schools.

“National broadband boosts economy and bridge digital gaps. For this reason, Huawei helps Vietnamese schools and universities to educate the youth. We provide them with telecom technology knowledge.”

“With this conception we decide to donate 100 computers to Hanoi schools to help them get knowledge on the internet, practice e-learning, enjoy health care programmes and improve their lives,” said Zhao Wei Jun, Huawei Vietnam deputy general director.

Eleven school beneficiaries are primary and secondary schools located in outskirt districts of Hanoi comprising Gia Lam, Ba Vi, My Duc, Hoai Duc and Chuong My.

Huawei Vietnam in October this year encouraged its employees to actively participate in charity activities to provide financial support valued at VND82.4 million ($4,120) to flood stricken areas in the central of Vietnam.

Huawei has been in Vietnam for 10 years, having firm foothold in the market with the collaboration with local telecom operators such as VNPT, Viettel, EVNT, Hanoi Telecom and Gtel.

Huawei has established 36 training centres and 17 research and development centres worldwide, playing a significant role in helping other industries and promoting ICT industry energy saving and environment protection to realise the firm’s objectives of “Green Communication, Green Huawei, Green World”.
