Global Care Consulting JSC, one of Vietnam’s leading insurtechs, unveiled its insurance Key Opinion Leader (KOL) platform on July 23.

The platform enables the Gsale app collaborator network to reach potential customers more effectively in the online space.

The KOL-driven insurance sales model is already familiar in China and has achieved remarkable results. Ron Tam, CFO of Huize Group and CEO of Poni Insurtech, noted, “Huize pioneered insurance distribution through KOLs and is the market leader in China. In 2024, our KOL channel generated $67 million, close to half of the group’s total revenue. With this model, anyone from a lawyer to a stay-at-home mother can sell insurance and earn a substantial, stable income.”

Speaking for Global Care, CEO Dinh Thi Ngoc Niem said, “We launched this platform first to help our collaborators broaden their customer base and boost their income. More importantly, Global Care hopes to spread the positive values of insurance to the Vietnamese people.”

“In today’s digital era, platforms like Facebook and TikTok reach the public far faster than traditional channels. Creating a playground such as the KOL platform therefore serves both business goals and our social responsibility, ensuring more Vietnamese are protected by insurance,” she added.

Global Care is a top Vietnamese insurtech platform, partnering with most non-life insurers. Dubbed a Southeast Asian leading insurtech company, it has received investment from Singapore-based Poni Insurtech. Its technology is considered best-in-class among Vietnamese insurtechs.

Nguyen Chi Muoi, Global Care’s product development director, shared, “Our system currently processes 180 orders per second and can scale instantly, allowing billions of policies per year with security at developed-nation standards. This supports our mission to spread insurance benefits rapidly. The Gsale app is extremely user-friendly and effective for sales, recruitment, and team management.”

At the launch, economist Tran Nguyen Dan, a member of the Vietnam Bar Association, commented that Vietnam’s insurance premiums equal less than 3 per cent of GDP (life and non-life combined), versus about 9 per cent in developed countries. With roughly 80 million smartphone users and strong government commitment to digital transformation, using KOL channels to reach customers via multimedia platforms is a sensible approach.

Addressing legal concerns about selling on social media, Dan added, “Insurance products are government-licensed and encouraged, so selling them is lawful. The key is to create content that complies with the Insurance Business Law so people understand their needs. Managing activity on a unified platform like Global Care lets the company moderate content to legal standards. Users need not fear violations because income tax, content moderation, and compliance are handled rigorously.
