Cargolux has signed a 15-year OnPoint solution agreement with GE Aviation valued at more than $1 billion.

The agreement will cover 52 GEnx-2B engines for the maintenance, repair and overhaul that power its 13 Boeing 747-8 Freighter. OnPoint solutions are customised service agreements tailored to the operational and financial needs of each customer for any size fleet.

These agreements are designed to help lower the customers’ cost of ownership and maximise the use of their assets. President of GE Aviation’s Services operation Paul McElhinney said: “Cargolux’s commitment to quality OEM maintenance is evident in its selection of GE Aviation as its maintenance provider on its GEnx engine fleet”.

“GE Aviation looks forward to providing outstanding service and support offerings to Cargolux to keep its engines in optimal operating condition,” he added. This is the 22nd time the Dubai Airshow has taken place. This year’s Dubai Airshow opens from November13-17.

There are about 1,000 companies from 50 countries bringing their products to take part in the Dubai Airshow. GE Aviation and its joint venture companies, CFM International and the Engine Alliance, accumulated engine and services orders valued at more than $27 billion at the 2011 Paris Air Show.
