The all-new Ford Fiesta brand was promoted by a social network communications campaign to link it directly to Vietnamese consumers.
By the end of 2011’s third quarter, Ford Vietnam reported sales figures of 6,058 car units, surging 39 per cent against the same period in 2010 and it is currently holding 7 per cent of the overall market share in Vietnam.
Ford Vietnam is a joint venture established in 1995 between Ford Motor Company which contributed 75 per cent of total investment and Song Cong Diesel Company which offset the remaining 25 per cent from a total investment of $102 million.
It began business operations in Vietnam in 1997 with a total plant capacity of 14,000 units per year. The Ford plant in northern Hai Duong province is the first automotive manufacturer in Vietnam to gain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, QS9000 and ISO TS 16949 accreditations.
