Fiesta, focus and escape compete in ford fuel efficiency challenge 2012

The competiton was held today on the journey of more than 30 kilometres from the central city of Danang to central Binh Dinh province’s Quy Nhon city.

Joining this competition are members whom are currently using Ford cars and come from 2 major auto forums in Vietnam - Otofun (from the north) and OtoSaigon (from the south). In addition, the event is witnessed by many automobile and television reporters.

At the starting point in Danang, each participating vehicle was provided with full fuel tank and sealed, with the air conditioning mode  remained at level 2 during the whole trip. Road conditions are mixed road on the distance from Danang to Quy Nhon. Outdoor temperature was in the range of 28 - 30°C without any rain.

As part of the programme, with the value of each litre of gasoline saved, Ford Vietnam and friends have founded a fund called “Green Tree Fund” dedicated to students in Quy Nhon’s Tuy Phuoc district, where there are still many difficulties in the construction of a spacious landscape for schools.

The total fund value raised were spent to plant 1,000 trees. This activity has helped spread a meaningful message: each litre of gasoline saved not only benefits the car owner but also helps to protect the environment and improve our community life. This is also the spirit of that Ford has been promoting. Ford and Ford’s owners come from the two forums have also offered VND20 million to Phuoc Son school to encourage unfortunate students to pursuit their studies.

"This competition serves as a test to comprehensively assess the ability of fuel efficiency on different line-ups of Ford. Once again, the results have confirmed our unsurpassed fuel efficiency – a very important added value particularly during the current credit crunch, making Ford become the number one choice for smart and fuel-efficient cars," said Laurent Charpentier, general director of Ford Vietnam.
