DHL Express, the world’s leading express service provider, today pledged its support for the H2H Charity Bike Ride 2012 in Vietnam.

H2H is a charity bike project where twenty volunteers will raise money through riding bicycles and traveling 2,000 kilometres from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, in an effort to support Vietnam’s disadvantaged children and help alleviate the poverty cycle.

Into its third annual fund raising campaign, all proceeds collected will be donated to three charities - The ILA Community Network, Saigon Children's Charity and The Children's Initiative, where needy children will be provided proper education and healthcare.

Participating in this event for the first time, DHL-VNPT Express will be sponsoring a support vehicle, accompanied by two drivers. The support vehicle will accompany the cyclists on the 2,000km journey between the nation's capital and its commercial hub.

“Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of our corporate culture. The passion and determination shown by these volunteers are truly inspirational and mirror our “Can Do” spirit in DHL. The ability to provide logistical support to such an event is our privilege.

These children are future leaders of the country and we want to make a positive change to their lives by helping them alleviate poverty. We are excited about the trip and we look forward to supporting the cyclists on this journey,” said Christopher Ong, general director, DHL-VNPT Express.

Commencing on February 3, the trip will take approximately 25 days to complete, winding its way through historic towns such as Hue and Hoi An, through mountains and valleys and along Vietnam’s long coastal roads.

Over $60,000 was raised in the past two years and this year’s event is expected to raise a total of $35,000.
