Smartcom Co. will begin distributing China’s Huawei phones in Vietnam at the end of this month.

Despite slowing demand for mobile phones this year, the presence in a dynamic market like Vietnam of Huawei, the second largest telecom supplier, is a matter of certainty, said Phan Quang Tuan Anh, general director of Smartcom.

Huawei Device Vietnam Co., a subsidiary of the Chinese tech giant Huawei, was established in 2006. The firm has joined hands with local mobile phone carriers to develop tech products from broadband internet devices and household tech devices to mobile phones.

Smartcom will distribute Huawei phones whose prices range from VND890,000 ($44) to VND7 million ($350) per unit.

“For hi-tech-savvy users who cannot afford high-end phone brands, Huawei phones give them a chance of experiencing digital products,” said Anh.

Smartcom is a unit of PetroVietnam General Services Corp. under the umbrella of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group.
