Volumes suddenly jumped to 66.4 million shares, up 75 per cent against previous session. Value was up 65 per cent to VND716 billion ($34.6 million).
The cash strongly focused on major stocks on the northern bourse. Kim Long Securities (KLS) saw 5.6 million shares traded, PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) 4.9 million shares and VnDirect Securities (VND) 3.8 million shares.
Saigon-Hanoi Bank (SHB), Bao Viet Securities (BVS) and PetroVietnam Northern Gas (PVG) were among top active stocks.
Of the big trading volume today, put-through volume made up a large part of 21.1 million shares. SHB and Saigon-Hanoi Securities (SHS) were changing hands the most.
Those active stocks just slightly gained or eased back, as the holders strongly sold out for locking their profit. Other major stocks largely fell also, among them Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), Vietnam Construction and Import-Export JSC (VCG) and Thai Hoa Viet Nam Group JSC (THV).
At the close, decliners outran the gainers 143 to 121, while 119 ending flat. The benchmark HNX-Index lost 0.46 points, or 0.61 per cent, to 75.63 points.
The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) fell also. VN-Index shed 4.11 points, or 0.93 per cent, to 439.57 points, after 117 stocks loosing on the southern bourse. Some 89 stocks were up.
Large-cap stocks massively ended lower, led by Masan Group (MSN) and Vinpearl Tourism and Trading JSC (VPL) both hitting the floor. Vietcombank (VCB), PetroVietnam Fertilizers (PVF) and Hoa Phat Group (HPG) sharply fell.
Investors remained aggressively bid for Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) despite the stock’s strong selling pressure. The share outperformed the market with more than three million units traded and ended 1.55 per cent lower.
Investment and Trading Of Real Estate (ITC) followed with 2.2 million shares changing hands, Sacombank (STB) 2 million shares and Refrigeration Electrical Engineering (REE) 1.3 million shares.
Liquidity slightly gained to 37.4 million shares, worth VND627 billion ($30.3 million), thanks to put-through volume rising to 5.2 million shares.
