Bien Hoa Sugar, Wilmar International to cooperate in international distribution

Sugar producer Bien Hoa Sugar JSC and Singaporean agribusiness group Wilmar International on January 25 met to discuss possible cooperation in distribution of their products in Vietnam as well as internationally.

The two companies hope to elevate their brands, share experiences in production and merchandise and thereby improve competitiveness. Following the meeting, Wilmar International will visit the sugar mills of Bien Hoa JSC and as planned, representatives of Bien Hoa Sugar also visit the sugar mills of Wilmar in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia in the near future.

Bien Hoa Sugar JSC., founded in 1969, has earned a reputation over the years for producing sugar products with high quality. Bien Hoa Sugar has successfully affirmed its brand name amongst its consumers. Bien Hoa is one of the largest producers of sugar in the Vietnamese market, backed with a nationwide distribution.

Founded in 1991, Wilmar International is amongst the largest listed companies according to its market capitalisation on the Singapore Exchange Stock Market. Wilmar’s business activities include sugar milling and refining, edible oil refining, specialty fat, biodiesel, grains etc.

Nowadays, the group has over 500 manufacturing plants and an extensive distribution network covering China, India, Indonesia and some 50 other countries with a multinational workforce of about 92,000 people. Particularly, in Vietnam, Wilmar International is one of two founding shareholders of Cai Lan Oils & Fats Industries Company. Besides, Wilmar also invested in Vietnam Flour Mills Ltd. and Wilmar Agro Vietnam Ltd. as well as co-operating with the Saigon Co.op for their project to erect and operate the Nam Duong sauce mills.

For their sugar division, in 2015, Wilmar International recorded a manufacturing and trading volume of around 10 million tons of sugar. Wilmar International has invested in countries having a modern or potentially lucrative sugar industry such as Australia, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Brazil, and Morocco. Its major investments are in Australia where Wilmar owns eight mills and becomes the largest producer of raw sugar and renewable energy from biomass.

Wilmar International have solid experience in setting up and developing resilient integrated agribusinesses that encompass the entire value chain of the agricultural commodity processing, from origin and processing to branding, merchandising and distribution for a wide range of agricultural products.
