Auto sales grow 69% in February

Though a long Lunar New Year break (Tet) fell in February, auto sales of the month still soared a hefty 69% on the same period a year earlier, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA).

VAMA’s report released yesterday showed nearly 12,330 autos were sold last month, down against January but up 69% on the same period last year.

Toyota, Ford, Honda, Mazda and Kia posted high sales growth last month.

February saw sales of Toyota Vietnam rising 83% year-on-year to 2,868 units, and those of Mazda surging by 154% to 905 units.

Ford and GM Vietnam also reported robust sales growth of 42% at 925 units and 49% at 419 units respectively.

According to VAMA, the total number of autos sold in the first two months of this year was over 32,300 units, a 76% year-on-year improvement. Besides, sales of both passenger and commercial cars grew 76% to 22,578 units and 9,730 units respectively.

Sales growth of completely built-up autos was higher than that of domestically assembled cars with 111% compared to a mere 13%.

The NP300 Navara 2015 has many improvements such as an intelligent keyless system I-key, start-stop button and dual-zone air-conditioning system with rear ventilation for backseat passengers.

The new model comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine whose fuel consumption is 11% lower than the previous model.

NP300 Navara E, NP300 Navara SL and NP300 Navara VL as three variants of NP300 Navara are priced at VND645 million, VND745 million and VND835 million respectively.
